Using Desensitization Acceptance Training to Reduce Physiological Arousal and Increase Satisfaction for Couples with Severe Relational Problems

, Marriage and Family Therapy

This study seeks more effective ways to apply Behavioral Marital Therapy (BMT) in the treatment of couples with marital problems. Researchers predict that using Desensitization Acceptance Training (DAT) for couples with marital problems will lead to more positive results than those obtained in the past through the use of regular BMT.

DAT is being used to help couples become more tolerant with each other and reduce their level of distress and anxiety during discussions. It is predicted that as couples continue to use DAT, their levels of physical and psychological stress will be reduced. This treatment will also lead to a higher level of marital satisfaction in couples.
