The purpose of this study is to measure the influence and relationship of marital and family therapy in health care costs. Studies have shown that interventions such as stress management, relaxation training and personal counseling have a promising effect in decreasing illness.
Participants in the study will be patients who use primary care medical facilities as their principal source of medical care. An analysis will be conducted to assess if marriage and family therapy improves family functioning and health by reducing stress, illness and health care costs. The study will also assess the impact of family involvement in health care use.
