State, Religion and Family in Indonesia

, Sociology

This project studies the influence of Islam and the modern nation-state on the Indonesian family. Researchers examine the conflicts between Islam and the state in regulating family planning.

Data obtained from this project will be compiled in a book about Indonesian family issues. The book will focus on three areas of family behavior: child marriage, divorce, and family planning.

Researchers are determining whether Indonesian family planning initiatives are successful or not. Conclusions will be used to determine the applications of these initiatives on law and social change in general.
