Multiple Family Group Psycho-educational Treatment

, Psychology

This project is creating a program evaluation of a treatment for mental disorders called Multiple Family Group (MFG) treatment. The study will compare the outcomes of patients who are involved in the treatment with those who are not.

The treatment targets patients who are diagnosed with schizophrenic disorders. Each patient's family will be provided with information about the illness and coping techniques. This will create a team effort between staff and family members to provide support to the patient and teach family members skills they can use to help.

As a predicted outcome, MFG treatment will promote continued care from families. They will play a central role in helping patients as they once again become involved in normal family, work, and social roles.
