Using Desensitization Acceptance Training to Reduce Physiological Arousal and Increase Satisfaction for Couples with Severe Relational Problems

, Marriage and Family Therapy

This study will address the problem of past ineffective outcomes of the use of Behavioral Marital Therapy for the treatment of Marital Relational Problems (MRP). Through the use of Desensitization Acceptance Training (DAT) for couples with MRP, a more effective outcome is predicted.

DAT will be used to help couples develop better coping skills and reduce distress and anxiety during marital discussions. The predicted outcomes of these procedures include reduced physiological and psychological distress during discussions and increased marital satisfaction.
