A Longitudinal Study of Premarital and Marital Relationship Development and Stability Using the RELATionship Evaluation (RELATE) Questionnaire

, Marriage, Family and Human Development

The RELATE Project is an on-going research/outreach project being conducted by the Marriage Study Consortium to accomplish two purposes: first, to identify and conceptually organize those premarital factors that are most predictive of early marital quality and, second, to develop and make readily accessible a comprehensive assessment questionnaire that assists couples in evaluating the strength and weakness of these factors in their own relationship. Ultimately, the dual goals of this project are preventive in nature. If important premarital factors can be successfully identified, both generally and in specific relationships, this information can be used to strengthen relationships and to prevent many marital problems before they emerge.
