This study proposes a merger between family life education and community health education in an attempt to help strengthen marriages during the transition to parenthood. With the combined resources these two educational approaches have, both the physical and psychosocial needs of expectant couples can be met.
This project uses a participatory action research approach that will begin with a collaboration between health-care practitioners, family life educators, and families to determine specific needs, opportunities, and strategies for implementation of family life education/community health education interventions.
