The purpose of this study is to identify adaptation needs that Utah families have when adopting special needs children. Ongoing post adoption support is crucial for successful adoptions. This study seeks to answer the following questions in regard to those needs in order to improve resources available to families:
- What are the stressors experienced in the adoption of special needs children in Utah?
- What social support and resources does the family use?
- What resources and social supports are needed by family members?
- Do the needs change over time?
- How are the children's needs met?
- How so the cultural and religious influences affect adoptive family relationship management?
