This project involves the integration of two key social science concepts - the importance of family bonds and the maintenance of good health. Two essential questions will be addressed. First, how does the marriage relationship (or lack thereof) affect the health of individuals? And, second, how do health issues impact marriages and families? This research will hopefully enliven the debate and promote the idea that these two sets of issues need to be jointly considered
This is a two-year research project that will produce several articles and will culminate in a book entitled In Sickness and in Health: Public Policy and the Health Economics of the Family. This project is currently in its second year and several articles are awaiting publication, or have already been published.
