The purpose of this research project is to study the divorce rate over a 50 year period of time and to investigate the decrease in divorce rates in the last 20 years. The research will focus on three main areas: understanding the divorce rate in the United States and the individual states, examining patterns and changes in the divorce rate over the past 50 years, and determining what social factors may be influential to divorce rates.
