One of the major objectives of this study is to describe the dating culture among LDS youth in both high school and college. It is important to determine whether LDS youth are participating in a “hanging out, hooking up culture,” which sometimes involves casual sexual encounters and has replaced the traditional dating culture on many campuses, or whether there are unique LDS accommodations or adjustments to such a culture. The role of pornography in young people’s attitudes toward and association with members of the opposite sex is an alarming issue that will be explored.
