The purpose of this investigation is to study the care of AIDS orphans in Kenya. Traditional kinship care is not effectively meeting the challenge of orphan care because extended families are overburdened with too many orphaned relative children, extreme poverty, urban migration, their own ill health and early deaths, and family disintegration. This project seeks to better understand the issues at hand through extensive research and to assist the Kenyan government in developing an international adoption policy.
