Family Change in Latin America in Thirty-Year Perspective

, Anthropology

This project involves quantitative and qualitative work looking at the change in family composition during the thirty-year transformation of western Guatemala’s economy and society. This research will enable an examination of processes of change in the family in a region that is rapidly changing with regard to economic access and religious membership. With a study of the actual family systems in place and a sense of the transformation process in a developing country, this research may assist other Latin American governments and agencies in the family policy implications of modernization.
