Family Intervention Training within a Street Children’s Program to Prevent Family Breakdown in Puebla, Mexico

, School of Social Work

More than 100 million children have taken to living on the streets because of some extent of family or societal disruption. Their plight affects not only their individual lives, but also society as a whole. International community development and humanitarian interventions must therefore focus not only on alleviating the suffering of these children, but they must also center on intervening with the families to prevent their breakdown. The purpose of this outreach project is to assist local social service agencies in developing countries to build the skills and resources necessary to intervene effectively with impoverished families.
