Understanding Long-Term Post-War Psychological Adjustment in Bosnian Families and Teachers

The purpose of this study is to gain an in-depth view of the long-term impact of the Bosnian conflict on adolescents and families.  There will be a series of eight focus groups with participating families conducted to gain this information.  The study will seek to identify Bosnian parents’ and adolescents’ definitions of healthy versus unhealthy parent/adolescent relationships, post-war factors that interfere with healthy parenting practices, post-war factors that promote healthy parenting practices, and family members’ views about how the war has altered their relationships, activities, and plans.
