The Administration for Children and Families (U.S. Department of health & Human Services) recently announced a $4.5 million, 5-year grant to the national Council on Family Relations (NCFR) to develop a National Healthy Marriage Resource Center (NHMRC). The NHMRC will have three primary tasks: (a) provide an online resource for individuals and couples to help them learn what marriage education services are available in their community, (b) provide an on-line resource for individuals and groups who want to be involved in efforts to strengthen marriages in their communities and spheres of influence; (c) collect, summarize, synthesize, and disseminate research related to forming and sustaining healthy marriages to marriage educators, community marriage activists, policy makers, media and others. BYU’s School of Family Life will be a part of a team of four universities and a policy research firm to carry out this work for NCFR.
