Developing Spiritual Competence with LDS Families and Children

, Social Work

This study will explore the cultural and spiritual relevance of six spiritual assessment tools with LDS families and children. Practitioners are increasingly being required to administer spiritual assessments. Since healthcare practitioners will be conducting spiritual assessments with LDS clients, it is critical that the assessment instruments be valid, relevant, and consistent with LDS practices and beliefs. Currently in all of social work literature there are no peer-reviewed articles and very few book chapters that discuss or examine “practice” with LDS clients. This study will help practitioners become more culturally and spiritually competent with LDS clients.
