An in-depth study of later life couples' adjustment to multiple age-related chronic illnesses

This research will ask and answer three question. Namely: (1) How do aspects of multiple illnesses, such as illness types, illness severities, and time since diagnoses, influence adaptation? (2) What enduring characteristics (moderators) do couples have that are associated with healthy/unhealthy adaptation to multiple chronic illnesses? and (3) What adaptations/resilience processes do couples use and/or develop, during acute ilness-stress phases and during chronic/ongoing phases, to deal with multiple chronic illnesses?
