The primary underlying premise of this research project is that families matter. For several years, scholars at BYU and eslewhere have been proclaiming that families are important. Those who write books and articles about the essential nature of family life typically piece together elements of research projects that only give us fleeting glimpses of how and in what ways families matter. We seek to move beyond this proclaiming approach and move to the declaring phase of this issue. We wish to be able to state authoritatively how different famly strategies create strength (or weakness) as those families attempt to attain well-being (however meaasured). http://www.flourishingfamilies.org
